Bike nerd feedback pls
So I’m putting together a bike from spare parts that I mostly already have sitting around so that I have something to leave at our rehearsal studio downtown because nothing’s quite close enough to walk but it’s such a pain to drive and repark.
So far I have:
- a black fixed wheelset with not-skinny but not-quite-mountainy tires
- a GT hybrid frame that’s a little bit like this with a top tube that’s not as horizontal:
- A cheap brown plastic saddle that is made to look a bit like a fancy leather one
- a maroon chain
- crank that came with the frame + single stack bolts so I can just reuse the big chainring
- Plastic platforms and some homemade velcro straps
As you can tell, this is going to be a ghetto / durable / leave tied up downtown without worrying kind of frankenbike. The one thing I just cannot figure out is what kind of handlebars to stick on it! It has an ugly tall stem with straight mountain bike bars that I could leave on, or I could flip and chop some drop bars I have sitting around, or I could get cheapo handlebars / stem from amazon/ebay. I just don’t know what style would be the awesomest with this combination. Halp - twitter @thedaniel with your advice!
