This gently customized UJM would fit right into my life.. right there, next to my bicycle. Perhaps it is the beautiful object that will at last give me true happiness through spending money on beautiful objects?

Playing a show with Phantom West this weekend: synthesizers, laptops, heavily processed vocals. Here’s a little preview, some clips from the last show (which was the first show with this setup)

When I joined up with my good friend and NeighborGoods founder Micki Krimmel to build a product called Favortree, I was excited by the prospect of building a product that had the power to affect people’s lives beyond the social web. While we still believe in Favortree’s goal of inspiring people to help each other, we have chosen to shutter the company. (You can read Micki’s blog post on the topic here.)
As a co-founder of Favortree, I experienced the joys and terrors of startup and small company life, and wore many hats from executive to developer to pitchman. I’ve been building APIs and backends forever, but the last few years have allowed me to dig deep into modern, complex Javascript applications. I’ve also loved being deeply involved in the product design and development process and working with a wide range of UX practitioners.
I look back on the experience as a co-founder and CTO with pride and much new perspective, but it’s time to look for the next step in my career. At my future home, I hope to start or join a team working on something that adds real value to someone’s day-to-day life—not just another way to tell your friends what you had for lunch—and help solve the hard problems where humans and technology intersect.
